mine's an HP all in one. it really works well... 'little engine that could". i wish it had a counter to see how many images it has scanned in its lifetime. i scan everyday. when i see things i like for clients, or for myself i just scan it! (i do wish it was faster- maybe HP can work on that for me) I have self-diagnosed A.D.D., my friend Zack confirms it- every time I spend more than 10 minutes in his presence he reminds me that I should be medicated. point of story: i rip things out of magazines all day (everyday) and I pin it up on my bulletin board or I sit it by my computer and typically when I go lookin' for it - I can't find it. if i scan it - it can't hide from me in my computer... i have a folder in "my pictures" for "scans"... it works well for me.
two scans from this morning:
This scan was for my sister, Darby. Sister, I know you get Better Homes & Gardens {i don't - you can get it for me for Christmas}, so you've probably already seen this bathroom. It's a great concept - especially considering your space (or lack there of) in your master bathroom. Pedestal sinks aren't as deep as "bathroom cabinets"... and I love how they have added the shelf at the back and the drawers down the sides... you aren't compromising storage as much as you would be if it was solely the pedestal.
Second item on my scanner this morning (this one was for me):
My dear mother-in-law gave me a subscription to Real Simple for Christmas... I read it every month and pray that the good Lord would instill all those fabulous "real simple" organization ideas into my soul. I often tear out ideas... like this page on organizing gift wrap. (I also tore one out on "the essential cleaning kit" but I'll save it for another day) In my dream house I'll have a room just for wrapping. In the interim, I can pick these things up at Bed, Bath & Beyond and attempt to get organized.
Okay, so I said I was sharing 2 scans, but when I mentioned my dream house, I remember this house I scanned and emailed to my loving husband, just dropping hints- I like to do that... this one came from the book Creating A New Old House (that's not an old house, it just looks like it) the book is really good.
I scanned this as "inspiration" (bottom right) when designing this new office I'm in, I can hear Joan (my beloved and uber-organized accountant) laughing now, truth is: that's the office of someone with OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder)- not ADD (attention deficit disorder). This one was from Martha. I do have that chair on order, so at least I attempted!
Do you scan? I'd love to know what you scan!!

E, your blog makes me smile so much. I love your thoughts and ideas. And your office is pretty close to that one but that one with one difference, it will be used for more than a picture!!!

You're right JM, I actually work. Whoever uses that office just looks at it. :) Did you notice the stuffed jackalope on the shelf!? Funny!

Ok, I do have a scanner but I don't know how to use it... so, I've never scanned. I copy... does that count? Also, I need to learn how to burn. Is it ok to confess that in 2007 I don't know how to burn a cd? Anyway, love the scans and I love the bathroom... one problem? Where am I going to find the money to do that. I looked under the mattress but it wasn't there!? Maybe in a few years!! :)

Erika, I like to tear things out of magazines all day long as well BUT i don't scan. Instead, I LAMINATE and file them away in my handy dandy 3 inch binder of ideas. And yes, it is color coded and filed according to house idea, kitchen, organization, cleaning, etc. Yes, I have a problem :) Can anyone say OCD??? Oh, and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Real Simple. I am not sure how my life was complete and I managed to get up every morning before that magazine came out!
