In my inbox this morning was this email from Heather:
Hey you probably don't need ideas for your blog but I was wondering if you could do a post about "classic" items. Things that those of us on a tight budget can feel confident picking up and knowing they will work for us for years to come. Antique, flea market and modern day items. Just a thought.
Glad you asked Heather!
I love Style Court! It's a daily read for me and today she featured Lee Kleinhelter's painted sideboard.
Pretty much, Style Court hit on this topic of "classic" before I had a chance to get started... read this post! She hits the nail on the head in regard to 'what works well with classic'... in order to keep it fresh and not stodgy. I'll feature what I consider "classic" this week too!
Unbeknownst to Style Court and Lee, I have been drooling over this painted sideboard for over a year. It was featured in Country Home December/January 2007.
I love the clean lines of these sideboards and have seen these in many antique shops prices ranging between $300 - $1,000. I do think that this is one of those "can't go wrong" furniture types... love it painted or not painted (would have loved to found that one for $300 then sold it at auction for $50,600)!

ooohhh I love that green one in Lee's house. Blogger No. 462 just bought one to put below a flat-screen TV and I think it looks really cool and unexpected.

I love your take on "classic", you are right it means different things to different people but your picks so far are great. Thanks.
