Round Top Round Up {Day 2}
Court just sent me some photos to tie me over until my camera arrives. These are "medium" - you know - whatever that means - they were shrunk for emailing, so you may not get the full effect, but they sure did my heart good.
Saturday was great - we covered a lot of ground and found "husband parking" - a roof-top terrace looking out over all the goodness that is Round Top, Texas. Here are some highlights:
We came close to buying this vintage orange motorcycle. {my mother will be glad we didn't}
C & I really wanted these fish shaped chaise lounges... to go beside the swimming pools that neither of us have: {the boys were really against these, we passed on them, but we loved them}
We bought these: 1970s glasses that have chains instead of "side stems" (?) so they loop behind your ears and the weights that dangle off the chains look like earrings
Also, everyone thought JJ & Chance were brothers and that Court & I were sisters. This was comical. Also, while watching us try these glasses on the boys got antsy... so JJ thought it would be appropriate to tell shoppers that everything in that booth behind them was 50% off. I thought I was going to die laughing.
This (below) was the husband parking area:
A little bit of what we bought:
And just a few others that I think will make you smile:
Court blogging.
Erika & JJ delirious.
Court more delirious. Chance told us that basket was a "chicken coop" (see the chicken that got caught in it?)... he had us 'hook line and sinker'... really it came out of a bakery... was a sifter of some sort? And had a little cupcake frosting on it too.
Junk lovers Chance & Erika.
We saw the heads. We liked them Darby- so I bought you a few.
Leftovers late night (well not really, but 8pm)... I wasn't sure I'd show up thru those doors, but I struck a pose anyway. Leftovers was in our neck of the woods (Brenham) and it's a fabulous antique place... Chance dubbed it "junk done right". We enjoyed wine and cheese and bought a couple little things (we couldn't afford much here).
A shot inside of Leftovers. Loved these old baseballs.
Some inside the camper trailer shots:
For some reason I found myself sitting in the suitcase... probably because our "loot" from shopping all day had taken up all the seats in the house.
The Powell's quarters.
We loved our view at the Artesian.
Courtney referred to him as our "Concierge", she was also disappointed that there wasn't hotel stationary.
This doesn't really do it justice, but this is JJ making toast on a piece of tin-foil over an open gas flame on our cooktop.
JJ put down like 5 tacos from this place... we kept them well fed so they would be able to do stuff like this:
The boys were very patient, we came to the conclusion that it was because they had each other... fortunately for us... this means: many more antique and junkin trips are in our future.
This was a good one.
If I had all the money in the world I would have bought Courtney those lockers.
More on this adventure tomorrow. Because Saturday (day 2- featured above) was "cover a lot of ground day", Sunday was "hurry up and buy it all because you are about to hit the road day".
To Court & JJ: thanks for being so gracious, so kind, so funny, so wonderful... we loved our trip with you and look forward to many, many more! I couldn't have asked for a better shopping partner than Courtney and Chance couldn't have made a better friend if he had tried. Keep our room vacant in your house - we'll be back... that we can promise!! And Chance is already fearing your visit this summer - because he knows his list of "honey-dos" will be a mile long before you come - as you have set the bar very high (which JJ we know you can jump).
Let me tell everyone this about their house: IT IS FABULOUS. Her pictures don't do it justice... it is the coolest house ever... and I mean that. Courtney is unbelievably talented... her degree and background may be in fashion, but don't be misled... the girl is a "designer of all things visual".

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this post!!! It looks like you guys had the most fun EVER!!! Thanks for all the pictures, I felt like I was right there with you all!

I love everything. And though I'm not your mother I'm glad you didn't buy the motor bike. Did Chance forget that he just broke his scapula on a motor bike? Must have! As for everything else, I love it all. The glasses are classic and doll heads are super freaky. They look like they belong on the cover of a Mariyln Mason album. I love everything else you bought and I especially love all the pictures! It looks like you had an absolute blast and I hope to meet Courtney & JJ one day soon!! I love you and I'm glad your home safe!! One of these days I'm going to stop having babies and take a trip like this with you! Morgan is supposed to be sleeping but it sounds like she's renovating the playroom... oh how I wish she was renovating instead of sleeping but I imagine she's playing "dollhouse"! Love you!

Hi! I just found your blog and it is so lovely... I am so jealous of your trip to Round Top. I have always wanted to go and your finds have fueled my desire even more. My husband and I frequently scavenge through the ones here in LA, but wow! your finds are so wonderful. You have a delightful blog!
