Do you like Fridays? I do!
This is another intermission... sorry folks, but I'm still not at 100% in the office (more like I'm at 10%, not to mention still trying to catch up from being gone last week). I'll be back with a Boston (proper) post over the weekend or on Monday!
This morning when I took the girls outside I realized I've been ignoring my garden. Sorry garden! There was a lot of blooming going on that somehow I missed...
(pretend like you don't see that black irrigation tubing and the green garden hose)
When I went to Boston I was ready to pack up and move to the northeast (only half-way serious)... my husband and close friends gently reminded me that the grass is always greener on the other side (I know, I know)... and that I should go back in February and see if I feel the same!
The good Lord gently reminded me when I got home that it's beautiful where I live too! (Just a different kind of beautiful.) This is where I walk the girls (see Paisley in the photo below) to the bay everyday, it's not too bad! It looks nothing like this now, Ike is causing a lot of chop on the bay!
Do you like where you live? If you could live ANYWHERE where would it be*!?
*I'm sure my friends on the Texas and Louisiana coast wish they lived somewhere else about now... praying for you friends, a key is always hidden at my house if you need someplace to go!
I've lived in Louisville, KY for most of my life and I like it about 85% of the time. I love that we have 4 seasons. I hate the humidity and the bitter cold. I hate the allergies (curse you Ohio Valley). I do like that we live on the Ohio River...living near water is always nice.
If I could live anywhere it would probably be San Diego (maybe) or Boston, or Seattle...

As Dorothy said, "there's no place like home". I am a die hard Bostonian, wouldn't change it for anything. Love the four seasons because it gives the opportunity to find gratitiude in the gifts that each one brings to nature. Love the diversity of people, religions, awesome Universities and culture. One hour North, I'm skiing, one hour East I'm on the National seashore with some of the most pristine sandy beaches in the world, three hour drive I can be in Manhattan! There's no place like home. You're welcome anytime, I'll make some CHOWDA :)

I would love to live somewhere tropical!! That would be lovely...but if I really had my wish I would move back to the 'ville and into my parents neighborhood. One of the big craftsman style homes on their block would be right up my alley...
Oh do I miss the South!!

Boston or San Francisco. SF has superior weather but you can't beat Boston's walkability and charm.

Heather S....the 'ville??? As in Louisville???

I live in Prescott, Arizona--gotta say it's close to perfect. We have four seasons (we're two hours north of Phoenix..with pine trees-not palm-mountains along with desert and leaves that change on trees too!) We don't have hurricanes or tornadoes and about 20 degrees cooler than the "valley of the sun." Bonus:My hair always looks close to perfect because of low humidity :)Gotta have you come out for your next trip!

I can't think straight right now... so I can't answer where I'd live but your garden looks beautiful and so does the Paisers. Love you!

hmmm--i don't know where i would live. san fran would be at the top of my list, and NYC--if $$ weren't an issue. york, maine is where i would love to [and did growing up] spend my summers! it's just about perfection!
truth be told, i think i would move all the time--which i know comes from a little bit of discontentment that i can struggle with. i want something, i get it, and then am ready to move on to the next best thing.
great post!
....your garden looks amazing, and your walking trail is beautiful too!

I live in coastal N.C. I think after 30 years the salt air is in my blood. I would find it hard to be away from the ocean. LOL I say this as I sweep sand from the house.

my sister (who has traveled extensively) recently found this quote and has claimed it as her life's motto:
"there's no place like everywhere."
so true! I hope I get to live in/visit lots of beautiful places, and that I don't take them for granted while I'm there.

You're so right about grass is greener. Funny, I just posted on missing home in Atlanta yesterday. But it's good to be grateful for the gifts we have here. Thanks for helping remember God's blessings.

Right now I wish I was living in your guest bedroom and snuggling on your couch with all the pups. And that I had a concrete box covering my house.

My husband and I moved to Washington DC this past January and although the winter was shocking to us (we moved from Florida), we absolutely love living here. Besides the amazing culture, monuments, and restaurants, DC is actually very beautiful and very charming. Although it will never have the same energy or be as fashionable as NYC, the cleanliness, classiness, and refinement of DC is enough for us to want to stay and visit NYC a couple of weekends a year (only 4 hours away).

I want to live on in vermont where your parents friends live; in their house to be exact!

Heather S....I thought that's what you were referring to! Yes...Louisville has some awesome neighborhoods. I live in Old Louisville and my boyfriend lives in the Highlands. I love both areas. Crescent Hill is another favorite of mine...I LOVE old homes. :)

I live in a small town of over 12,000 outside of the Chicago area and love it. We are a stone throw away from our lake. When my husband worked downtown Chicago and would come home he always felt he was on vacation. As long as I have family within driving distance I'm happy. Sometimes we just have to slow down to see the beauty even on a cloudy day.

I love where you live and I could so live there too! I would live in NYC again. The hustle and bustle of city life, the food, the shows, the people. Oh, how I miss it!!

I'm in Austin now but in a few months time I could be in Raleigh. *crossing my fingers* I've always wanted to live in Chicago.

Your garden looks beautiful, black water tubes and all! I've been thinking a lot about exactly this sort of thought lately... being happy and appreciative of where you are and gardening. Ok that is actually two thoughts, but they both find themselves here in your post. It's funny because when I read your blog one of the things which strikes me is how lovely and wonderful your life seems, partly because of where you live... truth be told, looks like a lot of us live in pretty fab places! Having said that, I've been thinking i'd like to live in Florence a lot lately!

Hi there!
I like where I live but, if I could choose, I'd go back to Miami, to Pembroke Pines.
I've lived there for a while and I miss it so much...
:)
Bye!

I have a distinct need to always be next to water. For 1.5 years, I lived in a small town that didn't have any water to speak of and almost went crazy. I need the soothing water.
Currently, I live inbetween Chicago and Milwaukee on Lake Michigan. I get to walk my pup to the water every day.
I think if I could live anywhere I would love to live in a huge high-rise apartment in Chicago and then have a tiny cabin on a little lake that I can escape to.
Or I would live in Crete.
How about them apples?

"Home is where the heart is", as they say and right now, I LOVE where I live but then we're very priviledged to be where we are...
Location doesn't do it for me - I'm happy when with my loved ones, wherever that may be..:)

I hate it here in the California high desert. It is always hot. When I say hot, I mean 100-112 degrees. There is almost NO green here. It is so darn dry and ugly. Hardly anything grows here. We moved here 5 years ago when my husband was still in the Navy. When he retired from the Navy (at 42) I thought for sure he would find employment somewhere back east. Of course that did not happen. He got hired by the Navy . I must say though that that most of the people I have met and especially my fabulous customers are just the best!!! I would miss them so very much.
I still have hope that I can escape with my little shop back to the East Coast very soon or I could even love to live in San Diego, Vancouver, BC or Panama or Martinique as well.
