I've neglected the blog for a week.
Am I really coming back to blogging with a post about almonds?
Yes. Because I'm pregnant. And pregnancy is the best excuse ever... next to "TBI", which is the one Chance is using these days.
Por ejemplo:
Chance: "I can't take out the trash, I've had a TBI."
TBI: Traumatic Brain Injury
He's also claiming that it's going to get him out of changing diapers come September. He's wrong.
Oh and after his CT scan* today he broke a tooth (eating a potato chip at lunch). So the nursing gig has really been kicked into high-gear. We have plans to get the tooth fixed tomorrow.
Back to the almonds.
Those Emerald Cocoa Roast Almonds are really, really good. Joan shared some with me back in December... and I was hooked, but we don't get to Sam's Club that often. Well today, we ran through Sam's after the CT scan and I picked up a gallon. I highly recommend them. They aren't chocolate-dipped. They are dusted with a cocoa powder that is heaven on earth. Try 'em. Let me know what you think.
Also note: He's driving again. Watch out. The doctor said he was allowed to after 2 weeks. Today is his first day of freedom. Mine too. I have felt very much like a soccer mom these last couple of weeks.
I cannot believe I have this photo of him (above). We took a trip (can't remember where we went) but on the way home it was late and I fell asleep in the car. When I woke up and looked over at him he had his motorcycle helmet on. He had been wearing it for quite some time and was waiting for me to wake up.
He kinda looks like a Power Ranger.
He's not wearing it today, but I think it might not be a bad idea.
And a side note... we have an ultrasound on Thursday where we will get confirmation that the peanut is a girl... or find out that she is actually a he. But anyway, I've been ordering some pink paint samples... more on that later.
Both images (above and below) from House Beautiful. White Dogwood by Sherwin Williams is the color below, and above is Valspar's Paris Pink MS037.
* - we won't have results from today's CT scan until next doctor's appointment on 4/30, but Chance is feeling great and we are still blown away everyday but everyone's love and support. Thanks again!
Keep us informed! Can't wait to find out if the peanut is 100% a little lady. I'm so glad to hear that Chance is feeling better. Maybe he should wear that helmet next time he's out in the rain, just in case! ;)

Well, don't forget that while he has his "TBI", you are 'creating life' (said with a dramatic hand motion). When I was pregnant with my twins, that was my statement anytime I didn't feel like doing something. Which was often!
PS-Glad he is feeling better!

That picture of Chance is hilarious! Glad he's feeling better from his TBI:) Those almonds look delicious. I tried D's treat earlier(the apple slices, peanut butter, and roasted sunflower seeds) and it was very tastey! Hopefully you get a positive ID on the little peanut!
XOXO

I would highly recommend valspar's Dress Pink through the Laurie Ashley line at Lowe's. I'm currently paint our bathroom that color and it's fabulous.

SO glad that everyone is doing well - We had our 20 week ultrasound today and found out we are also having a little girl....I was convinced it was another boy. Oh, and I ate a almost a whole pint (ok the whole thing) of Cherry Garcia ice cream this afternoon!

I was waiting for this post "Going Nuts" to be about crazy pregnant lady hormones, which make you "like a demon", as George would say. lol.
Love the TBI - George never even had one of those and he still didn't change diapers. What the heck????? Life ain't fair!

love the picture of Chance with his head gear on :) can't wait to hear that it's for sure a girl or a boy - I find out May 8th what I'm having and am counting down the days! I don't have a Sam's card but those look really good...

YEAH! So glad Chance is on the mend. Watch out, they will try anything to get out of diapers! looks like you are feeling pink to me!

oh i'm so glad he is feeling spunkier. and did you know that you can claim TBI from now on? it's called pregnancy brain. those little "peanuts" really fry the grey matter. it doesn't get better. "go go chancy ranger..." i like it. it's his new theme song.

great new about Chance and Princess Peanut... I too bought a gallon of those same almonds (but I'm not prego)... they are so yummy! I also recommend them on Vanilla bean Bryers Ice Cream...FYI!!!

I swear I would want him to wear that helmet everywhere for a while. Can't wait to hear about the peanut.

LOVE the helmet picture. Hilarious. Can't wait to here confirmation of baby girl. We also have a sonogram on Thursday and will find out then too! We actually found out 2 weeks ago but haven't spilled the beans yet! :)
Have you had any fried pickles since you've been pregnant? It is delicious dipped in ranch dressing. If that doesn't sound like a pregnant woman's dream I don't know what does! ha
Glad you're back. Been checking in daily!

Just wanted you to know I've been thinking of y'all. I'm glad to hear Chance is doing better! And by the way, the smoked Emerald almonds are fantastic too!

I have a bedroom painted in Sherwin Williams White Dogwood and it is a beautiful soft pink. If you are considering it for use in peanut-girl's nursery I don't think you would be disappointed.
P.S. So glad your husband is recovering well!

oh welcome back to the blogosphere! we've missed you! ( but are glad to hear your hubby is doing better.)

You're NUTS! And so is your POWER RANGER HUSBAND. And I love you to pieces and your baby!
Posted by: Darby | April 20, 2009 at 10:40 PM
I'm making a Sam's run tomorrow. Those almonds sound great.
Chance DOES look like a Power Ranger. That picture is hysterical. sounds like things are returning to "normal".... (which is only a setting on my clothes dryer!) So happy that you're back in blogland. I need my daily Urban Grace fix. Take care of all "3" of you!
Posted by: carol | April 20, 2009 at 10:50 PM
So glad he is feeling better! And so great to see you blogging again! Yeah! Loving the baby inspiration can't wait to see more!

That's it. I'm sending LDC a mouthpiece for his birthday. AND a new helmet. This one will also have a face shield, but shhhhhhh don't tell because it's a surprise.
You two take care of yourselves. I'm starting to think this is a ploy to get me home so I can come visit and make sure all is well in SRB! Also, me and Brian Neal's favorite shade is Behr's Pink Fantasy 1A24-3, though that swatch up above is pretty screen-licking too! xx

I was introduced to those almonds a few months ago. We love them at my house -- watch out they are highly addictive! But that's fine, because remember, you can eat as many as you want. After all, you're forming someone's brain (one of my preg. lines to explain any unusually high consumption of a particular food)!!
Posted by: Jennifer | April 21, 2009 at 07:40 AM
I am going to pretend I didn't see those almonds :)
Glad to hear that Chance is continuing to improve. I cannot wait to hear if the pink is a go!
Posted by: jane | April 21, 2009 at 10:02 AM
oooh! I love those almonds! They make a most delicious snack/dessert.
p.s. I LOVE your blog! Can I be you when I grow up?
Posted by: Sara Jane | April 21, 2009 at 10:09 AM
ooh - yes. going to try the almonds! Glad things are going well. And definitly love the color of pink above. Not too pink, but perfect for a nursery!
Posted by: Anna | April 21, 2009 at 10:30 AM
ps - benjamin moore's "frosted petal" is also really nice.
Posted by: Anna | April 21, 2009 at 10:32 AM
I'm feeling 'in the pink' today but can't wait to hear what the ultrasound shows.
LOVE the look of the helmet!

That picture of him is hilarious!
Both of those pinks remind me of cupcakes... yum yum!
Posted by: Rachel | April 21, 2009 at 12:36 PM
Can you get Peanut Roaster peanuts in Florida? peanut.com
My favorite are the hot honeys and jalapeno! You should give them a try when you finish up your almonds!!

Is this a twin thing? Darby just did a post on nuts too.
Okay, let me just tell you that [I think] you are most definitely having a girl. I can tell just by your cravings. Remember, I've had two of each. And you totally crave different things with boys. Girls [even in the womb] love sugar, chocolate and yummy things like that.
I'm totally baking you [and her] [and TBI boy] a cake.

It's so great to hear you both are doing well!

This post seriously cracked me up - the helmet - the waiting - that is hilarious!! Something my Dave would do! Oh and the bibs in the above post are darling - what a great purpose for the fabric now!
Posted by: Diana | April 21, 2009 at 03:15 PM
ok - i can't even decide what to post about first... i'll just go in order. first of all, i really think lee had those almonds in their showroom the last time i was at market. are there other varieties? if so i definitely think they're the same. they were so good it's worth a trip to Sam's just to confirm it. second, that picture of Chance makes me smile so big. thirdly i can't stop looking at that pink room. you rock. don't leave us for so long next time xx

I love almonds so I will have to try these with vanilla bean ice cream of course! My addiction right now though are Sahale Snacks, esp the Valdosta blend flavor. Pecans with sweet cranberries, black pepper and orange zest. Just the best ever! They are always sold out at Whole foods.

I love a he who has the confidence to wear a bit -o-pink.
(and a power ranger helmet too) he he.
Glad things are back to just nuts... I mean almonds.

The last of my 5 kids is my only girl, so her room had to be pink! I chose Benjamin Moore's Wispy Pink. It is perfectly feminine without being syrupy. This week (it only took me 3 1/2 years) I finished her curtains for her room, it finally looks finished! Best of luck with your wee ones room, it is so much fun.

Just for today I will have a quiet half hour all by myself and relax. During this half hour, sometime, I will try to get a better perspective of my life.
