That was the subject line of an email from an inside source... Southern Accents September/October issue will be the last. The website will remain in operation. This is really devastating. Thanks for the many years of inspiration SA... you will be missed!!!
ugh i can't take it anymore!!! why do all the good ones go first? there are sooo many awful and mediocre mags out there, why is it only the good ones close down?! it doesn't make any sense:-(

oh, i kind of hoped that when all of those magazines went under earlier this year that it would be the end of that. how sad.

No!!!!!! I'm so upset. SA is my absolute favorite magazine. Glad I didn't throw any old issues out so I can still have my SA fixes.

I kept reading & buying & hoping that this would not be the case! I have so many wonderful reads from this one!
It will be sorely missed!

NOOOOOOOOOO! That is so sad! I absolutely love Southern Accents... :( And literally TODAY I put a check in the mail to re-up my subscription. UGH.

I'm so sick of having all of my favorite magazines folding. This is really depressing. Which is next, House Beautiful perhaps Elle Decor. I'm crossing my fingers for this one to be the last.

Oh that is so sad. I wonder if our subscriptions will be replaced with anything else?

I feel like I have lost a great friend!
Posted by: Dianne | August 06, 2009 at 04:01 PM
Oh no! Say it isn't so! I LOVE Southern Accents...more than any of the others that have gone away in the last year or so.

Worst. News. Ever.
Posted by: Tiffaney | August 06, 2009 at 04:09 PM
I honestly can't believe this! I've had a subscription to SA magazine for years. If SA can't stay afloat then I don't know how any of them can!

Hi! I am new to your blog, a friend introduced me to it a couple months ago. I really enjoy your wonderful posts. I am also a designer but am on "sabbatical" for two years. I'm living in France with my husband. I'm so sad to hear about SA. It was my favorite magazine! Keep up the great posts and hope that the rest of the pregnancy goes smoothly.

I just read this on Joni's blog and I'm beside myself about the news. I know that sounds so lame that I'm sad about a magazine but there's just something about getting your hot little hands on a glossy magazine that can't be beat. I'm sad.

You have GOT to be kidding. One of my favs :( Hope you're doing well my PG friend!

Just found your blog and I went all through your gallery. LOVE your kitchens. :) As a historic preservationist, I love how you embrace the bones of the house and your designs seem so seamless. I think design should be respectful of the house and you do a wonderful job with that. Wish you were closer - I am in Kansas in a 1906 stone cottage.
Congrats on the baby. (Mother of 4, no girls here... pout)

horrible news.
Posted by: abigail | August 06, 2009 at 11:16 PM
this really shakes the core of design magazines... please please let this be the last one!!
Posted by: Alice | August 07, 2009 at 12:01 AM
What?????!!!! WHAT????!! SA gone? GONE? *sob* *sob* *weep*
Posted by: jen R Sanctuary arts at home | August 07, 2009 at 12:04 AM
Right on to Lindsay. We are seeing creative and imaginative ideas falling left and right. And yet my gossip magazines still arrive on a weekly basis. Somewhat a sad statement, I think.

major bummer!!! Pooey!
Posted by: Rebecca | August 07, 2009 at 08:26 AM
Oh no!! I'm an NYC gal who loves her dose of Southern Accents. Wonder what the publishing house will send me to replace the remainder of my subscription...maybe Southern Living?
Posted by: Jackie | August 07, 2009 at 09:13 AM
So sad. I think when Cottage Living closed (which was devastating) my subscription went to Southern Accents. Oh, what will I read for inspiration now (besides blogs, of course!).
Posted by: Tipi | August 07, 2009 at 10:21 AM
Crap! I guess my stacks of archived magazines will not be growing so much anymore.
Posted by: beki | August 07, 2009 at 10:46 AM
I'm making an educated GUESS, but I bet you'll start receiving Coastal Living. They've moved all of the Coastal management to CA with Sunset.

i live in new england, but i spent a few years in the south, and i love mixing some true southern design into my spaces. i love charleston and savannah gardens and this magazine was one of those places where you could figure out how to put it together and not look tacky!
