Raoul Textiles are gorgeous, I sent Courtney home with a couple samples... one of which was the fabric on the sofa below. (it's Amijao linen #909B82, for fellow tradespeople who might be interested)
I love the repetition of the same fabric on the draperies. Love the grasscloth too. (my grasscloth is going in my pantry on Friday!) I also like the frames over the sofa. This image is from Elle Decor, July/August 2007, photographed by Pieter Estersohn.
I've been stewing over how to frame the antique scrapbook of match books I scored at the Kane County Flea Market. I have a few frame samples and a million mats I'm sorting through, and was leaning towards a deep frame so I could have some relief and a shadowbox affect so you could see the cool depth and crunchiness of not only the matches themselves, but also the pages of the tattered old scrapbook ($$$$$$). But looking at that image above I wonder if I shouldn't just go with a classic (plain jane) metal frame ($) and white mat (oh the decisions). I would usually never go with a metal frame... but it works there. But they have grasscloth on the walls, which is a nice soft element, and what they have framed has hardly any color.
Okay, enough thinking out loud.
I could devour both:
tomato
tangerine
They feel even better than they look, the pattern is raised and nubby... and seriously edible. I hope greek key doesn't get over-used and trendy (too late?), because I love it... especially in these colors!!!
Both by Philip Gorrivan for Duralee/Highland Court.
I'm in love.
I saw this fabric in a recent issue of House Beautiful in the airport a few weeks ago... and jotted it down to order some samples. They arrived today.
Stopped by Peter Fasano's site to look around... and these photos of the printing process make my heart go pitter-patter.
Checking the screen.
Adding the color.
Hanging the fabric to dry.
You can see more here. Accompanying my memo sample was a gorgeous calendar... I love good customer service and freebies.
my heart seriously flutters over stuff like this:
D*S just posted this girl's unreal chair make over. I love Laurie Smith fabrics... and what an AWESOME button detail! I don't know who her upholstery person is - but they rock! My sister also cashed in when Hancock's was selling Laurie's fabrics for $3/yard!
And remember my hilarious (and talented) friend Krista {who tried so save some money and trim her own dog}? Check out her skirted table in that fabulous yellow bamboo fabric! It's in her son's Play Room, stashed beneath: lots o' toys. Great job Krista!!!!
my brain feels something like this right now:
My internet provider was down all day yesterday, they really aggravate me. Do they know what this does to my blood pressure when it comes back on and my inbox is flashing red warning signs due to an influx of emails that would make most want to crawl under a desk and die?
Despite my anxiety level... two really fun things:
I challenged Snippet & Ink to "make this fabric a wedding"... and to no surprise she totally rocked it:
In her words: A slightly beachy, slightly nautical, very preppy Hamptons wedding in navy and green.
Mood: preppy seaside
Palette: navy, green, white
To my embarrassment - I had that clipping of fabric on my bulletin board because I love it - but had lost the source... anyone??
And on another Hamptons note... Absolutely Beautiful Things made my heart skip a beat when she featured this article on Steven Gambrel's Sag Harbor cottage. Precious is the only word that comes to mind - agree? Snippet & Ink's wedding could totally take place in the backyard...
And in case you don't follow the link to the article - I don't want you to miss this (the inside):
(annmarie, are you reading? this reminds me of your house)
Peace kids.
Happy Birthday (again) Mom!
My sister called today requesting confirmation on her yardage estimate for her Chippendale sofa that is about to get reupholstered... and I thought this might be helpful to others as well. Martha featured this many years ago (her own pretty version) and it is in my bin o' favorites... if I can dig it up I will and share it later this week!
